Santee Neighborhood Guide


Santee is a neighborhood about 18 miles northeast of downtown San Diego. The San Diego river runs down the center of the community, which was the ancient homeland of the Kumeyaay tribe of Native Americans. Today it’s an expanding community with a growing list of amenities to its name. Sportsplex USA Santee, with facilities for softball and soccer, as well as seating for the fans and an in-complex restaurant, is located in the Town Center community park. Santee Lakes is a great place for fishing, camping, and other outdoor activities. Golfers keep their hand in with a few holes at the Carlton Oaks Golf Course, designed by Pete Dye.

The climate is Santee can get quite hot in the summer – up to 100° F in August, although the average high is around 90° F. Still, it’s a dry heat in this semi-arid climate. Winter lows average somewhere in the low 40s.

Freeway access is through State Route 52, 125, and 67, and you can easily reach the Interstates 8 and 15 from here as well.
