North Park Neighborhood Guide

North Park was declared ‘one of America’s best hipster neighborhoods’ in 2013 by Forbes magazine, and lives up to the designation. There are many craft breweries, coffee shops, art galleries, and boutiques to satisfy your cultural leanings. The neighborhood plays host to a variety of public events, such as the Ray at Night gallery walk held in the Ray Street Arts District on the second Saturday of every month, and the 30th on 30th, where all the restaurants on 30th Street offer special deals on the 30th of each month. The main commercial arteries are 30th Street and University Avenue.

This community also boasts some distinguished architecture. The Morley area features Craftsman and California bungalows designed by David Owen Dryden, the famous builder and designer. The Dryden Historic District consists of 136 homes on 28th and Pershing Streets.

With its central location, North Park is convenient to the rest of the city. The I-8 freeway runs along its east side, and SR-15 feeds into it from the south. Balboa Park is on the southeast border. University Heights can be found to the north, and Florida Canyon is on the east side.
